Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the company to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months she resigned from the business. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. In February 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment which included 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple in Edgewater, New Jersey.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family often relied on the free delivery of food from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her fatheras one who would drink too much, and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had some drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling, later learning that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was fluent in several classes during her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
